RACV/RACT Hobart Hotel
RACV/RACT Apartments Hobart
Wheelchair Accessible Room Review
While in Hobart we stayed at the RACV/RACT Hobart Apartments in an accessible room. The apartments are located in a perfect location within the heart of Hobart City with close walking proximity to Hobart attractions, The Cat & Fiddle Arcade and Brooke St Pier.
The wheelchair accessible apartment we stayed in was very clean and a good size to nicely cater to the 3 of us. Our room had a King size bed along with a double sofa bed in the living room. Our room also had a connecting room next door, so it would be an excellent option for a family or a group of people that need a large accessible bathroom.
The wheelchair access within the apartment was great, and I found most areas easily accessible, It was well setup for a wheelchair user and included a fully accessible bathroom. The reception staff were all very friendly and helpful. I requested a shower chair for the bathroom at the time of booking, and they met my request with no issue, with the shower chair being available on my arrival. Because we had a car rental for our stay, they also reserved a disabled parking spot for me near the lift.
The hotel’s overall accessibility and facilities were very good with areas being accessible throughout by either ramp or lift. They have a restaurant within the hotel, but sadly it was closed during our stay for filming, however they did have the bar open which had a small food menu available.

Recommended Room Improvements
Even though the apartment we stayed in during our 5 night stay was a good size to accommodate a wheelchair and was well setup for a wheelchair user, we did find some in-room issues however and felt the apartment could do with some improvement. The bathroom mirror was not at a suitable level for a wheelchair user, and a lot of the room appliances didn’t work correctly, such as the TV in the main room. The fridge was over heating and needed replacing during our stay, and the hair dyer was faulty.
The kitchen didn’t have a cook top or oven, which was a disappointment for an apartment, so the only cooking facility was a microwave. There were also some essential in room items that were missing, such as dishwasher tablets, and the selection of cutlery and plates was minimal. The shower hose in the accessible shower also leaked when it was being used, and the bathroom had a drainage problem, where the water from the shower wanted to run under the door out onto the bedroom carpet, so when having a shower, we needed to put towels down to soak up the water. Unfortunately, these issues with the room certainly let the hotel down in my opinion.
We did enjoy our stay at RACV/RACT Hobart Apartments because of its handy location, helpful staff and wheelchair accessibility, however I would love to see some in-room improvements.
In my opinion I give Racv/Ract Hobart Apartment Hotel a rating of 4 for wheelchair accessibility and a rating of 3 stars for the overall room experience.
