The alpaca farm reception is located on one side of the car park and the O’Reilly’s Canungra Valley Vineyard reception on the other. We checked-in at the alpaca reception which is accessible by a fabulous timber ramp that gives you access through the back door. The reception area is also a small gift shop where there is a variety of alpaca and lama merchandise, from super cute alpaca soft toys to alpaca woollen socks.
The alpaca walk experience is open to guests of all abilities and the alpacas were absolutely cool and collected around my wheelchair. Mum and Nicky both had an alpaca each while I wheeled beside. The alpacas were so cute and well behaved, even though I am not sure who was taking who for a walk half the time. They were very much food orientated and as long as we had some food and there was some nice grass for them to stop and snack on they were happy. The alpaca walk is on the grass. The grass was fairly flat and even in most parts, so I didn’t have too much trouble moving around in my electric wheelchair. However, grass can be difficult to navigate in a wheelchair so this experience may not be suitable for all.
We had such a fabulous time during our alpaca walk and I think 30 minutes was a perfect amount of time for the experience.
